Strength
I'm feeling rather fabulous these days and I'm not exactly sure why but I'm loving it. I was worried that I would fall into the usual moping routine that happens when Alan is in China, but this time was different. I feel like I've found a confident part of me that I never knew existed. I have been completely content with the silence and the aloneness that I've been experienced while Alan has been gone, I've almost embraced it I guess. It might sound like I like him being away, but that is not the case. I do really miss him but I think that I've had a chance to get back in touch with myself, regain something that I didn't realize that I had lost. When you are in a relationship, I think you learn to only be defined by that, its easy to forget that you are your own person who has their own separate desired and interests. Alone-time has allowed me to explore those things that I had put aside. I've been running (jogging really I guess) and I'm am 12 pounds away from my goal! I feel like I'm accomplishing something so incredible and I feel like it has been enjoyable losing 36 pounds, hard work and all. Today I'm so confident that I am really close to registering for my half-marathon this May. I've been putting off the registration for a while because I've been iffy on whether I would be able to complete it. At the moment, I don't care and I'm excited to push myself! I better stop gushing about my fabulous mood or I'm going to miss my movie. I'm breaking down a huge wall for me and going to the movies alone and I'm really looking forward to it. I better go! Alan will be home tomorrow thankfully!

I went to the movies finally by my self, I saw Twilight.
I have never been to the movies by myself every before. It was liberating.
But technically I wasn't alone per say, I had Lucy with me :)
I'm very happy for you, Tiffany. You look great! And don't be afraid of the half-marathon. When my friend and I did it, we followed a run/walk program. Run 2 minutes/walk 1, then you progressively increase the running to 3 or 4 minutes, etc. I always thought that if I walked, I would look like a loser but then I talked to people who 3, 4 marathons a year and they told me walking prevents you from getting injured and even they walk a minute for every 9 of running. Anyway...great job on all your progress and good luck!
I like this post. I totally get what you say about giving time to yourself. Congrats on your weight goal and wanting to run 1/2 marathon. You'll have to tell me about it. I'm not much for running, but from Donata's advice I'd run a minute and walk for ten.
I go to the movies alone sort of regularly. Especially for movies like The Other Boleyn Girl and The Duchess, and I think in both of those movies I was the only person under 100 years old in the theater. ;) I like going alone because normally I worry a lot if the other person is enjoying it, but when I'm alone I just get lost in the movie.
I loved going to the movies alone! Tisheena, if we were closer I'd go to the movies with you. The Other Boelyn Girl and The Duchess are 2 of my favorite movies. I watched them both while Alan was in China.
Thanks for your advice Donata. I had forgotten that you've run a half-marathon before. You made me way less nervous about it so thanks!
Good point Tisheena about seeing a movie alone. I think it's empowering to watch a movie alone at times.
i love movies and often go by myself... especially since it's hard to find people who want to see the obscure movies with me. i think it's healthy to do things by yourself. and i'm pretty sure if we all lived closer none of us would be going to the movies alone, but at least we are together in spirit!
