My first post of the new year, a little behind schedule but better late than never. There's something freeing about starting a new year, its so full of possibilities and uncertainty and this year is really going to be different, I can feel it. I was going though my old blog entries from as long as 4 years ago and I saw something, change. I am in awe of how much I have changed my mindset in the last 4 years. I would never say that I am a positive person but I can see my attitude become more optimistic. I used to look at strong, beautiful, confident women with jealousy and hatred because they were something that I couldn't be. Over the last few years, mostly in the last year, I've seen myself change for the better. I am becoming the woman I always wanted to me but never though I could. Alan keeps telling me that he always saw that woman but he didn't know how to encourage me to find her. I'm so glad I did and it just keeps getting better.
With that, I did decide on a few resolutions for this year:
-Try more new things. I have a hard time getting out of my rut of always doing the same things and eating at the same places. I want to explore more and I need to be more open-minded. We will see how it goes.
-Wear skirts and heels more. I love being a girl and vintage styles are so my favorite thing and I have all these pretty clothes that I can't wear to work so I should wear them more often on weekends. I have already taken a small step towards that when Alan and I went out for a fancy dinner last weekend and I wore heels and my high waisted pencil skirt.
-Cook more. I love cooking but I get lazy after working out after work. Thats not an excuse anymore though since I've been working out in the mornings!
-Learn to dance. Swing dancing mostly. If only I could find a man to go with me that could move different parts of his body at the same time...
-Conquer vintage hairstyles. I got this awesome book and I'm growing my hair out. With Maggie's awesome guidance and patience, I'm going to manage to do at least one of them before Alan's cousin's "wedding" in March in Portland. They have a 1930s theme and you are encouraged to choose your own era to dress in and I figured that that was the perfect excuse to buy a new dress and figure out how to do my hair all pretty.
-Refocus on my goal weight. I'm not going to go crazy but I've lost focus in the last year so I'm starting fresh this year. I started taking a weight-lifting class with Stacy, Shelly and Jenn which is awesome. We got Christina to go over the weekend and I'm pretty damn sore so I wonder how she feels today.
-Save more money. The goal I set every year and never do it. This is the year though, I can feel it. We are finally making a bit more and aren't living paycheck to paycheck anymore so I should be able to manage a small savings. Every little but helps right?
I'm really excited to see what this year brings for Alan and I. We have a trip to Seattle/Portland planned for March that I am really looking forward to. We are flying into Seattle and staying there a night. After the night in Seattle, we are driving down to Portland but not without going to La Push and Forks (yes I am a Twilight nerd and I don't care) before ending up in Seattle. We are staying at the cool mid century hotel called The Jupiter . It's going to be cool and I'm looking forward to Emily and David's not really a wedding wedding. I've also registered for the Colorado Half Marathon in May It was the first one I ran ever and I LOVE it! I'm excited to do it again this year and I won't be doing it alone, Stacy and Gonda are running to. Hopefully Alan will be able to make it this year too! After that, we are hoping to go to Mexico with Danny, Tisheena, Gene and Christina but we are waiting on 2 of them to decide whether they are going or not (you 2 know who you are and you need to go, life is too short!). Not much is planned for the rest of the year, hopefully a lot of road biking and hiking and hanging out with Gene and Christina. Maybe a trip or 2 to visit the families and possibly the Las Vegas Rock and Roll half marathon in December. Lots of Rockies games are a must and hopefully a trip to the World Series but I may be a little hopeful. I'm also hoping for another cat or possibly our first dog too. I already have names picked out but I don't think Alan is really on board with this idea. That may be too much for the next year though. It will be an exciting year and I'll try to keep my blog updated!
